A Garden Can Save You Money!
Everytime I go into the grocery store it seems that the groceries that I buy have gone up in price again. I think about what we used to spend on groceries every week and I laugh. We spend that much just on little short trips to pick up a few items that we missed the week before.
A couple posts ago we mentioned how our rain barrels can be great for collecting water for pets and gardens, so I thought I would post about gardening today. Not only can having even just a small garden save you money throughout the year, but the taste of garden fresh vegetables cannot be beat!
So how do you know what will grown good in your soil? The best thing to do is talk to someone who has a garden in your area and already knows not only what will grow well, but can give you some great tips to take good care of your garden to get the biggest harvest possible out of it, no matter what the size. You can also get some great tips from websites like Do It Green Minnesota. Start small this year and as you get the hang of it, increase the size of your garden and variety of plants every year. Not only will you have fun, but you will be saving money and eating healthier!
